The Mahoning County
Sanitary Engineering Department
The Mahoning County Sanitary Engineering Department provides wastewater treatment services to over 40,000 customers in Mahoning County and a small portion of Trumbull County.
The department operates under the direction of the Sanitary Engineer and the supervision of the Mahoning County Board of Commissioners. MCSE derives operating revenues solely from user fees charged to customers.
The MCSE system comprises some 800 miles of sewer lines and Five wastewater treatment facilities. (By agreement with Mahoning County, the Youngstown Wastewater Treatment Plant services portions of Austintown and Boardman Township. Through a similar agreement, the Struthers Wastewater Treatment Plant services Poland Village, Poland Township and portions of Boardman and Springfield Townships.)
The Mahoning County Sanitary Engineering Department has a work force of employees dedicated to the daily operation and maintenance of your wastewater treatment system. Support for this effort is provided by employees performing administrative engineering, billing and general customer services.
